this coming Monday, the 9th @ 8 p.m.
Music & Arts in the Studio
@ Alexey Steele Grand Atelier
Rand Resources, LLC.
First up, two trios, two centuries apart for piano, clarinet and
bassoon, featuring Nadia Shpachenko on piano, Edgar Lopez on clarinet,
and Judith Farmer, bassoon. Mozart's "Kegelstatt" trio was originally
composed for piano, clarinet and viola but is often transcribed for
other combinations, as we will hear at CU. 230 years later, Gernot
Wolfgang composed WINDOWS for exactly this relatively rare combination.
It is always a delight to welcome LA Philharmonic violinist Mark
Kashper and pianist Meriette Saglie, returning to perform Antonin
Dvorak's Romantic Pieces, Op. 75.

We also welcome the return of young USC violinist Leonard Chong, who will play the Fantaisie Brilliante on themes from Gounod's "Faust," Op. 20, by 19th-century violin virtuoso Henri Wieniawski.
And pianist Danny Holt brings an intriguing mini-program by
relatives of great composers, starting with the great pianist Clara
Schumann's Op. 20 variations on a theme by her husband Robert. Then a
taste of the talents of Mozarts Senior and Junior: a sonata by
Leopold, and a Polonaise by Franz Xaver, respectively father and son of
Wolfgang Amadeus.
CU SHOWCASE
Natalia Fabia
"Ravenous" "96 x 60"
*****
While finding her theme early on and receiving a fair share of recognition, Natalia did not end up simply recirculating it. She proved to be driven to constantly improve and expand her technical vocabulary. Her deepened attention to alla prima and live painting brought a new level of expressive bravura to her work.
Natalia has been featured in Juxtapoz, New York Arts magazine, Hi Fructose, Art Ltd., and Angeleno Magazine. She was featured in LA Weekly's 2010 People Issue as one of "LA's 100" most fascinating people.
We are happy to welcome as our CU showcase this unique, dedicated and constantly growing artist.

Natalia Fabia is a uniquely authentic and genuine LA voice.
Much like herself, her characters, mostly women, are full of
vigorous, assertive and unapologetic presence, perfectly comfortable
in their unabashed and empowering sexiness. She's got her theme, her
purpose and her love of messing with paints. Her work is a dazzling
product of her own world, both truthful and imagined.
